The Best Podcasts for Skiers and Snowboarders

Newsroom Best Of Topics The Best Podcasts for Skiers and Snowboarders

We have a soft spot for podcasts, especially considering our history of delivering radio snow reports. Ski podcasts offer access to some of the world’s best winter sports athletes, ski industry insiders, and more. So as the anticipation and excitement builds for another great ski season in North America, we’ve put together a list of the best ski podcasts.

While there are a lot of podcasts out there for skiers and snowboarders, not every podcast is made equal. Our list highlights some of the top podcasts for skiers and snowboarders across a variety of topics, from conversations with industry insiders to athlete interviews to backcountry skiing to the latest ski news.

The best ski podcasts

The Storm Skiing Journal

Stuart Winchester, founder, editor, and host of The Storm Skiing Journal writes, “Everyone’s searching for skiing’s soul. I’m trying to find its brains.” Stuart’s website and ski podcast is focused on what he refers to as the “lift-served skiing universe.” That’s after all where the majority of skiers and riders spend most of their time. With its focus on the ski resort experience, The Storm Skiing Journal’s guests are typically the movers and shakers of ski areas, pass programs, and other businesses involved in the ski resort experience. Beyond the podcast, The Storm Skiing Journal is a great resource for ski industry news.

Low Pressure

Low Pressure Podcast bills itself as the first podcast in skiing. You needn’t look any further than its archive for proof of that, as there are nearly 300 podcast episodes spanning 10 seasons. Mark Warner, the founder and host of Low Pressure Podcast, writes that it is the “best place to find important conversations with the people who dedicate their lives to skiing.” The podcast features Freeride World Tour athletes, Olympic medalists, ski industry insiders, filmmakers, and more. Mark is also the host of the Freeride World Tour Podcast, featuring interviews and in-depth coverage of the freeride skiing and snowboarding tour.

The Bomb Hole

The Bomb Hole is the podcast dedicated to snowboarding. Come for the banter, but stay for the great guests, which have included Jeremy Jones, Jamie Anderson, and Elena Hight, just to name a few. Hosted by pro snowboarder Chris Grenier, The Bomb Hole self-describes itself as a “great blend of humor and inspiration through the stories of snowboarding’s top athletes.” We couldn’t agree more. Save these podcast episodes for your ski road trip, since episodes are often well over two hours.

The Powell Movement

The Powell Movement goes beyond just the ski enthusiast. Yes, conversations are primarily with professional skiers and snowboarders, but also skaters, industry insiders, and others in action sports industries. The Powell Movement’s host, Mike Powell, has spent a career in action sports management, much of which was spent at K2 for 18 years. That’s evident from Powell’s passion and expertise, and such an impressive list of guests.

Out of Bounds

Out of Bounds is one of a few podcasts that comes from the Out of Collective, a network of outdoor industry podcasts, started by host Adam Jaber. Adam has more than 10 years of experience in the outdoor industry, and with the Out of Bounds he brings a mix of athletes, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and others to talk all things outdoor sports. Don’t miss some of Out of Bounds’ other podcasts, including Care Less, Do More, hosted by pro skier Michelle Parker.

The Mayrand

The Mayrand describes itself as a “podcast about skiing, life, and everything in between.” While The Mayrand is one of the newer podcasts on this list, launching just a couple years ago, it has some rich conversations with some of the most well-known pro skiers and snowboarders. Past guests have included X Games and Olympic gold medalist Alex Hall, 13x X Games medalist and Olympic medalist Henrik Harlaut, and Kaya Turski, who is an eight-time X Games champion in women’s ski slope style. Skier and filmmaker Xavier Mayrand hosts The Mayrand Podcast.

Next Level Skiing

Wagner Skis has been bringing the Next Level Skiing Podcast for several years. Jason Blevins, a longtime ski journalist, talks to the ski industry’s luminaries and behind-the-scenes bosses. As Wagner shares, “This podcast will offer some shortcuts to becoming the skier you want to be, without having to quit your job and move to a ski town.” Look for new episodes of Next Level Skiing toward the beginning of the ski season.

Totally Deep Backcountry Skiing

Totally Deep Backcountry Skiing comes from Cripple Creek Backcountry, a backcountry retailer that started in Carbondale, Colorado, and has grown to several stores across Colorado, and one in Seattle. The Totally Deep Podcast is hosted by Cripple Creek’s owners, Doug Stenclik and Randy Young, bringing the “lowdown on the world of uphill and backcountry skiing and boarding.” It touches on a little bit of everything from the backcountry skiing world—ski gear, backcountry techniques, inspiring stories, science, and more. If you love skiing the backcountry, look no further.

Last Chair: The Ski Utah Podcast

Increasingly, popular ski destinations, like Utah, are launching their own ski podcast. The 2022-23 ski season marked the fourth season of Ski Utah’s podcast, Last Chair. Each episode dives into the lifestyle of Utah’s mountain destinations, from Little Cottonwood Canyon to Brian Head, and features conversations with athletes, resort leaders, and more. Last Chair is hosted by Tom Kelly, a lifelong skier and storyteller. This is a great podcast to dive into as you plan a Utah ski trip.

As you’re planning ski trips, look for other destination podcasts. In Alberta, for example, there’s the Legends of Lake Louise Podcast by Lake Louise Ski Resort.
